
CDC Ski Club Code of Conduct for Parents/Carers
Snowsport England and CDC Ski Club expects the highest standards of all young people participating in snowsports and their families. Parents/carers (hereafter called parents) will:
Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person within the context of snowsports Not use inappropriate language or gestures, including foul, sexist, abusive, racist or prejudicial language or tolerate it from other members or guests
Not condone, or allow to go unchallenged, any form of discrimination if witnessed Positively reinforce their child and show an interest in their snowsports activity
Not place their child under pressure or push them into activities they do not want to do Respect that children involved in ski racing and training need appropriate rest and therefore will communicate with their child/children prior to 9pm
Deliver to, and collect their child punctually from coaching sessions and races if attending on a live-out basis Be responsible for organising their child’s flights and transfers to and from the training venues unless otherwise agreed in advance
Ensure their child is properly and adequately attired for the weather conditions of the time Ensure that protective equipment is worn at ALL times including providing their child/children with a back protector and FIS compliant helmet to be worn at all times when training and racing
Detail any health concerns pertaining to the child to CDC, in particular breathing or chest conditions. Any changes in the state of the child's health should be reported immediately to the coach Inform the coach prior to departure from the slope if a child is to be collected early from a coaching session
Use best efforts to travel to the resort where training or racing is taking place within 24 hours of their child becoming injured should the injury prevent the child from continuing to race or train. Once in resort the parent of an injured athlete will be responsible for their child
Be responsible for paying for any damages caused by their child (including but not limited to team equipment and hotel property)
Encourage their child to abide by the rules and teach them that they can only do their best Behave responsibly when observing, and not embarrass their child
Be respectful towards the coach and challenge any concerns through the appropriate channels Be realistic and supportive
Recognise good performance and not just race results
Accept the official’s judgement Acknowledge the importance and role of the Club coaches
Abide by the Snow Sport England’s Snow Safe Policy Abide by Snow Sport England’s Anti-Bribery policy
Any misdemeanours and breach of this code of conduct will be dealt with immediately by Chemmy Alcott or Dougie Crawford.
Persistent concerns or breaches will result in the parent/carer being asked not to attend if their attendance is detrimental to their child’s, or other children’s, welfare.
